Embroidered top-dress

March 29, 2012

Some embroidery after a loooong break.

I had done the same design in 1988 (that’s how old I am) in my eight grade. Itching to compare the workmanship…mom’s promised to fish it out for me.

And just teeny weeny one here

To make this for my 2 year old niece whom I am still to meet.

The dress pattern is 9772 from Burda.

last minute gifts

March 10, 2012

Last month I met my uncle and his family in Goa along with my brother and another cousin. A next generation family get together of sorts.

While I had bought jewellery, home decore and books for the cousins, Uncle and Aunt are not very keen on receiving gifts. I am sure that they would be happy with something hand made and so …

A market Tote

Lined and with a change/phone pocket

A personalised apron for a good cook, i.e uncle

Detailing

The embroidery motif planned by a friend. Running edge stitch and stem/outline stitch chef’s cap, chain stitched words.

smocked winter frock

September 25, 2010

Had some stripes so- do some smocking.

This is what I did.

Added details with collar embro and lace to make

a full-sleeved winter frock.

Some collar details- embroed bullion flower and french knots with lace on the edge

Used Burda pattern for a frock  9564 (with a box pleat in the front) to create the pattern for this frock.

Must say- enjoyed making it.

current WIP

Some heavy weight knit soaked for a Sweat-shirt for Uvi-Tuvi

A busy/quiet book in progress for Uvi-tuvi

And some smocking in progress for Scooby

There should be at least half a dozen sewing projects but nothing seems to be moving all thanks to the Quiet book!

doodle to T-shirt

September 17, 2009

With the onset of Autumn we went long-sleeves t-shirt shopping one weekend and ended up buying a whole lot of plain ones.  Love to work on them.

And Scooby had doodled all afternoons most of her summer vacations.

Some of her drawings-

A sunflower and a bird

and on a white t-shirt

Next picture that I used is my favourite- a self portrait of Scooby complete with a crown, a wand and a heart

and the t-shirt.

DSC01388

Just traced out the drawing as is and copied it on the t-shirt and embroidered it with a stem stitch or a chain stitch or a french knot!

One way of preserving Scooby’s art for little longer!
