birthday backstage!

May 6, 2009

It has been anti climactic after the Birthday weekend…there is nothing to plan, sew and bake!

I am sure I will think of something soon. But, as of now NOTHING!

So a run down on the birthday theme.

A month back I came across the fact that this year is the 40th anniversary of Eric Carle’s “The Very Hungry Caterpillar“. Incidentally, it is also falls in “my most favourite book” (says Scooby)… and hence THE theme for the Birthday.

So Scooby & I made the invites with a caterpillar, a fruit (a strawberry or an apple) and the blazing sun.

The invite reads-

Dear So,

It is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s” 40th B’day this year and my 4th. I would like to invite you to a small party that I am having at home with all my friends.

Date:,Time: & Venue:

We made some caterpillar badges to welcome our little friends and for them to wear at the party.

hideous wriggly caterpillars...badges

A giant hungry caterpillar for “Pass the Caterpillar”

...and table decoration

...and table decoration

A giant paper caterpillar for “Tag the Mouth of the Caterpillar” game

and garden windmills as prizes

Patched Scooby’s t-shirt to wear at the party crop

Caterpillar “cakes”!

Butterfly cakes – since caterpillar is too small!

In colourful bags, some butterfly stickers and candies – as party favours

and a standby spring top with “shiny” butterfly print for “just in case”. And to feed the sewing monster in me.

Followed by a dress for the special school day

Some good past few weeks…sigh!

Munmun, I knew you were very talented, but now I see how much… You have done a great job of creating all this stuff for the b’day party. I am sure Scooby is very happy, and a very lucky child to have a mom like you!

    Love, Masi
